John MacKenzie Thompson (born March 22, 1924) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1975 to 1986. ==Political career== Thompson ran for a seat in the 1975 Alberta general election. He won the electoral district of Cardston to pick it up for the governing Progressive Conservative party.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Cardston results 1975 )〕 Thompson ran for a second term in office in the 1979 Alberta general election. The race in that district was hotly contested with challenging Social Credit candidate Broyce Jacobs nearly defeating him.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Cardston results 1979 )〕 Thompson ran for a third term in office in the 1982 Alberta general election.
